Goosetown Park
Goosetown Park is a small park located in the west side of Bridgeport. Groundwork Bridgeport was asked to revitalize the park and to dedicate the space as a memorial for victims of violence in our community and country.
Sadly, local residents Tim and Kim Donnelly were killed outside of their jewelry store several years ago. Friends and family of the couple wanted to create something within the community for the Donnellys. The family approached Groundwork Bridgeport to request help with creating Goosetown Park as a memorial not only to the Donnellys but to all those who have suffered as victims of violence.
Groundwork Bridgeport helped to redesign the landscaping in the park and undertake the planting and maintenance of the park. Funds from the annual Donnelly Dash road race in Fairfield contribute to the maintenance of the park. In addition, an art contest was held for the students at the Music and Arts Center for Humanity, and the winning student was able to paint their design on the sign that not stands at Goosetown Park.
