4/14/09 - Groundwork Bridgeport, a local nonprofit dedicated to the environmental rejuvenation of the City of Bridgeport, is holding its Spring Park City Sweep on Saturday, April 25^th from 9AM to 12:30PM. The Park City Sweep is a city wide clean up day held by Groundwork Bridgeport twice a year, once in the Spring and once in the Fall. Every Sweep, between one hundred and two hundred volunteers are provided with tools and supplies and are sent to over a dozen sites throughout the city to clean up. This year volunteers will work at over a dozen sites throughout Bridgeport. Volunteers will meet at the Groundwork Bridgeport offices at 510 Barnum Ave. to receive assignments, tools, and supplies. After working at their sites, the volunteers will return at 12:30 for a cookout lunch.

 

The Park City Sweep is just one of the events Groundwork Bridgeport has planned to celebrate Earth Week. We also will be working with the office of Congressman Jim Himes to clean up Waterview Park on Saturday April 18 as well as a project with the Beardsley Park Zoo on April 23. Groundwork Bridgeport has always been dedicated to the environment and we encourage everyone to do their part for the community and the planet.
