The Rivers, Trails, and Conservation Assistance Program, also known as the Rivers & Trails Program or RTCA, is the community assistance arm of the National Park Service.  RTCA staff provide technical assistance to community groups and local, state, and federal government agencies so they can conserve rivers, preserve open space, and develop trails and greenways.  The RTCA program implements the natural resource conservation and outdoor recreation mission of the National Park Service in communities across America.

Since its inception in 1995, EPA\"s Brownfields Program has grown into a proven, results-oriented program that has changed the way contaminated property is perceived, addressed, and managed.  EPA\"s Brownfields Program is designed to empower states, communities, and other stakeholders in economic redevelopment to work together in a timely manner to prevent, assess, safely clean up, and sustainably reuse brownfields.  A brownfield is a property, the expansion, redevelopment, or reuse of which may be complicated by the presence or potential presence of a hazardous substance, pollutant, or contaminant.

Groundwork USA is a network of independent, not-for-profit, environmental businesses called Groundwork Trusts. We work with communities to improve their environment, economy and quality of life through local action by getting local people, businesses, government, and other organizations involved in practical projects. We believe people, places, and prosperity are inextricably linked and work with our partners to develop projects which bring benefits to all three areas.

The Groundwork USA network is currently made up of fifteen trusts with three more trusts in development. While all the Groundwork Trusts operate independently, we all share a common mission and passion to improve the natural environment in our cities. Visit the National Park Service to learn how to start your own trust.

Groundwork UK supports communities in need, working with partners to help improve the quality of people’s lives, their prospects and potential and the places where they live, work and play. Their vision is of a society of sustainable communities which are vibrant, healthy and safe, which respect the local and global environment and where individuals and enterprise prosper.
